Winner of the 2018 Iowa Review Award in poetry,\u00a0Shaina Monet<\/b>\u00a0is a New Orleans native, a Pushcart-nominated poet, a 2018 Best of the Net nominee, and a former poetry editor at\u00a0 Bayou Magazine<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0She completed a BA in French and a BA in\u00a0English at the University of New Orleans in 2013, and her MFA from the\u00a0University of New Orleans Creative Writing Workshop in 2018.\u00a0In the coming years, she hopes to complete her first full-length poetry collection, learn several more languages, make progress on her historical fiction novel set in 18th\u00a0and 19th\u00a0century New\u00a0Orleans, and pursue a PhD in language and literature.
